HONOLULU — University of Hawai'i guard Daejah Phillips earned the season's first Big West Player of the Week award on Monday after helping the Rainbow Wahine split their road trip in the Pacific Northwest.
 
Phillips averaged 15 points per game while shooting 47.1% from the field in Hawai'i's trip to Portland and Portland State to open the season. She also came up with seven rebounds, three assists and five steals on the road trip and earned the Big West's weekly award for the third time in her career.
 
The senior led the Rainbow Wahine with 19 points in the season opener at Portland on Nov. 7 and went 11 for 11 from the free-throw line to help UH set a program record with a 25-for-25 performance. She then scored 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting from the field, including two 3-pointers, in a 72-50 win at Portland State on Saturday.
 
Phillips previously won the Big West Player of the Week award on Feb. 5 and Feb. 26 last season on her way to earning first-team All-Big West honors and the conference's Best Sixth Player award.
                                              
The Rainbow Wahine (1-1) return to action in the Bank of Hawai'i Classic set for Nov. 22 and 24 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. UH will face Lousiana-Monroe in its home opener at 11 a.m. on Nov. 22 and Eastern Washington at 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 24.
