HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team split it's Sunday doubleheader to end the Fall Preseason Classic. Hawai'i defeated Fullerton College, 13-5 in five innings but fell to Chaminade in the tourney finale, 2-1 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine loaded the bases on three singles with no outs. After a fielder's choice from short to home erased the lead runner, Chloe Borges was plunked to force Milan Ah Yat across the plate for an early 1-0 lead.
 
Fullerton put two runners in scoring position in the second, but starting pitcher Borges was able to get a line-out to center and a strikeout to thwart the rally.
 
Hawai'i erupted for 10 runs on seven RBI-hits in the second. UH's Alyssa Nakagawa led off the inning with a solo home run to centerfield--her second homer of the tourney. UH went on to load the bases and Liliana Thomas ripped a single through the leftside of the infield to drive in Maya Ichimura and Kayara Tuiloma. Borges then drilled an RBI single and Carys Murakami followed with a two-RBI double that drove in Sunni Kahanu and Kennedy Thompson. Jaeda Abcede and Nakagawa kept things rolling both with RBI singles and Ah Yat laced a 2RBI single to score Kayara Tuiloma and Nakagawa for an 11-1 lead.
 
The 'Bows added two runs in the fourth on a Madixx Muramoto RBI-single that looped down the right-field line. Later, Kolbi Kochi drew a bases loaded walk to drive in UH's 13th run.

The Hornets got three runs back on three RBI hits in the fifth.
 
Borges earned the win, throwing 3.0 innings shutout innings, not allowing a hit with three walks and four strike outs. Addison Kostrencich, threw one complete inning, allowing one hit with a walk and a strikeout. Millie Fidge closed the game, tossing the final frame, gving up three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.
 
Fullerton College starter Grace Workman gave up nine runs on nine hits with two walks in the first inning and a third. Aiden Carlson threw the following 1.2 innings giving up two runs on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Brianna Aguilera threw one complete inning allowing two runs on three hits with three walks.

The Silverswords' Larchelle Tuifao hit a two-run home run to start the game in the first inning.
 
Hawai'i's Izabella Martinez led off the fifth with a solo shot over the centerfield fence to cut UH's deficit in half, 2-1.
 
Chaminade threatened to extend their lead in the seventh. They loaded the bases on a double and two walks, but UH got a fielder's choice and a popout to second to escape further damage.
 
UH starter Macy Brandl took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in six innings with three walks and seven strikeouts. Addison Kostrencich threw the final inning giving up a hit and two walks.
 
Chaminade starter Bailey Benson threw the first two innings and did not allow a hit or run with two walks. Kamryn Lopez fired the next three innings allowing one run on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Ava Walker threw the final two innings
