HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. –
Emiko Sverduk carded an opening round 2-under 70 to lead the University of Hawai'i women's golf team at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Friday at the Highland Ranch Golf Club.
Sverduk sits in a tie for 13
th place while the Rainbow Wahine are 11
th in the team standings. As a team UH shot 293.
Host Denver and Minnesota share the first round lead at 280 while UM's Reese McCauley has the individual lead at 7-under 65.
Sverduk posted five birdies on the day, including four on the front nine.
Maline Krause shot even par 72 and is tied for 25
th place while
Syamala Varnika Achanta carded 2-over 74 and sits in a tie for 49
th place.
Competing in their first collegiate tournaments are
Maddie Dustin (77; t-70
th) and
Mia Hirashima (80; t-78
th).
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Saturday.
