HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Emiko Sverduk carded an opening round 2-under 70 to lead the University of Hawai'i women's golf team at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Friday at the Highland Ranch Golf Club.
 
Sverduk sits in a tie for 13^th place while the Rainbow Wahine are 11^th in the team standings. As a team UH shot 293.
 
Host Denver and Minnesota share the first round lead at 280 while UM's Reese McCauley has the individual lead at 7-under 65.
 
Sverduk posted five birdies on the day, including four on the front nine. Maline Krause shot even par 72 and is tied for 25^th place while Syamala Varnika Achanta carded 2-over 74 and sits in a tie for 49^th place.
 
Competing in their first collegiate tournaments are Maddie Dustin (77; t-70^th) and Mia Hirashima (80; t-78^th).
 
The tournament continues with Round 2 on Saturday.
