SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team battled hard on the opening day of the UC Santa Barbara Fall Classic on Friday at the Arnhold Tennis Center. The Rainbow Warriors fared well, winning three singles and two doubles matches to kick things off.
 
In singles, three Rainbow Warriors notched victories in straight sets. Junior transfer Azuma Visaya led the way, cruising past Santa Clara's John Kim in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Diego Dalisay knocked off Cal Poly's Sean Ferguson, 6-3, 6-3 and UH's Sohta Urano pulled away to down St. Mary's-CA's Aidan Watt, 6-3, 6-1. Quinn Snyder was edged out in a three-set battle with UCSB's Dominique Rolland, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. UC Davis' Ivan Savkin held off Andy Hernandez by a break in both sets, 7-5, 6-4 and Karl Collins fell in two to UCSB's Gustav Theilgaard.
 
Hawai'i won two of their three doubles matches. UH's duo of Visaya and Snyder doubled up on Santa Clara's Lukas Maskow and Kim, 8-4 while the senior pair of Collins and Hernandez defeated St. Mary's Ellison Greco and Carlos Ramos Membrives, 8-3.
 
In the Main Draw, UH's Visaya advances to take on UCSB's Conrad Brown. Dalisay will face UCSB's Matei Gavrea and Urano will play James Krantz from UC San Diego. In the consolation round, Hawai'i's Collins will face St. Mary's Pierre Lieutaud and Andy Hernandez takes on Sascha Nothdurft of LMU. UH's Snyder has a bye.

In the doubles main draw winners' bracket, the UH pairing of Visaya and Snyder will play Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev of Cal Poly, and Collins and Hernandez will take on Santa Clara's Alexander Watanabe Eriksson and Luca Lemaitre. On the consolation side, UH's Dalisay and Urano will face Aiden Watt and Liam Carpenter.
