SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued to compete at the ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego, Calif. on Friday.

In main draw action, UH's Peppi Ramstedt won her opening match by outlasting Cal Poly's Alexandra Ozarets in three, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. But in the Round of 32, sixth-seeded Emmilija Tverijonaite of Arizona State defeated Ramstedt in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. In UH's Hannah Galindo's match, she fell to LMU's Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik in two, 6-0, 6-1.

In the opening round of doubles, UH failed to advance falling in all three matches. The closest match of the day saw Cal Poly's Jessica MacCallum and Ozarets holding off UH's Sheena Masuda and Ramstedt in a tough tie-breaker, 8-7 (5). In other action, CSUN's YUulia Zhytelna and Angela Ho defeated UH's Allaire Berl and Joëlle Lanz, 8-0, while UH's Makeilah Nepomuceno and Galindo fell to UCSB's Raphaelle Leroux and Alexandra Benedetto, 8-5.

The Rainbow Wahine won a pair of hard fought consolation matches on Friday. UH's Nepomuceno bounced back after dropping the first set to CSUN's Talia Harper. Then Nepomuceno held off Harper in a third set super tie-breaker for the win, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6). Hawai'i's Lanz came through with a clutch, straight set win by knocking off UC San Diego's Kelly Leung with two tie-breaker wins, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

The Rainbow Wahine will be competing in consolation matches on Saturday.
