TEMPE, Ariz.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team continued to compete at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Southwest Regional at the Kiwanis Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. on Friday. In singles, both
Quinn Snyder and
Azuma Visaya notched wins to advance to the Main Draw's Round of 32.
Snyder held off UC Santa Barbara's Conrad Brown by a break in both sets, downing the Gaucho, 7-5, 6-4. Snyder punched his ticket to the next round to face Southern California's 101st-ranked Karl Kazuma Lee. Visaya fought off LMU's Youssef Sadek in three sets, which culminated in a third set tie-breaker with Vidaya prevailing, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5). Visaya advances to take on Pepperdine's 103rd-ranked Maxi Homberg on Saturday.
In the other main draw singles action, UH's
Diego Dalisay came up short against UC Irvine's Noah Zamora, 6-4, 6-2, while
Karl Collins fought hard, but fell to third-seeded Danilov Savriyan in a very tight match, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
In qualifying doubles action, Hawai'i's duo of
Sohta Urano and Dalisay came through with a solid win over San Diego State's Mathieu Josserand and Louis Chusseau, 8-5.
