Rainbow Wahine Face CSUN to Cap Homestand

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team takes on CSUN on Saturday, Jan. 6 to cap their first Big West homestand of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Hawai'i Time at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The Rainbow Wahine opened their conference home schedule with a 67-43 win over Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday and Saturday's matchup with CSUN will feature the debut of UH's retro uniforms.

• California Hotel and Casino will sponsor Saturday night's contest.
• The Rainbow Wahine will unveil their retro uniforms against the Matadors. The uniforms will feature various elements from uniforms in the past, spanning from the 1980s and '90s.
• Kloe Lindenmuth is scheduled to perform the National Anthem and Hawai'i Pono'i. She is a talented 15-year-old singer and songwriter with a single, "Wonderwall," out on Spotify & all digital platforms. She is the 2022 Spotlight National Director's Choice awardee, the 2023 Miss Paradise Teen Aloha, and the 2023 Team USA ambassador at the World Championships of Performing Arts.

TIPOFF
• UH holds a 15-11 edge in the series with CSUN and has won the last five meetings. The Rainbow Wahine are 8-3 against the Matadors in Honolulu.
• UH is off to a 2-0 start in Big West play for the second straight season. Prior to last year, the Rainbow Wahine hadn't won their first two conference games since the 2002-03 season.
• UH is seeking its first 3-0 conference start since the 2001-02 season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference. UH last started 3-0 as a Big West member in the 1995-96 season.
• UH guard Lily Wahinekapu scored a season-high 15 points against CSUB and is tied with forward Imani Perez for the team lead with nine points per game.
• UH is one of three teams still undefeated in Big West play along with UC Irvine and Cal Poly, both at 3-0.
• UH enters Saturday's game second in the conference in scoring defense in allowing 57.5 points per game overall. UH opponents are shooting 36.4% on field-goal attempts overall, the lowest mark in the Big West.
• UH has held opponents to 25.3% shooting on 3-point attempts, which ranks first in the conference and 25th among 348 Division I teams.
• The 67-43 win over Cal State Bakersfield marked the fourth time this season that UH held an opponent under 50 points. The previous occasions came in wins over Idaho State (58-46), San Jose State (73-47) and Cal State Fullerton (59-49).
