HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i swimming and diving teams closed out the home schedule by taking on nationally ranked Ohio State before celebrating Senior Night on Friday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
The UH men's team won two relays in the dual meet with the No. 14 Buckeyes and sophomore
Mario Surkovic claimed two individual victories. The Ohio State women's team, ranked fifth in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America poll, won 13 of 14 events with UH sophomore
Kailee Chow picking up a win for the Rainbow Wahine.
UH took the top two spots in the men's 200 medley relay with the team of
Karol Ostrowski,
Justin Lisoway,
Grant Stoddard and
Jakub Ksiazek finishing in 1:28.08. The team of
Timothy Gallagher,
Tomer Goldfaden,
Jordan Meacham and Surkovic followed at 1:30.28.
Surkovic won the men's 200 free with a time of 1:37.80 and ended his night with a victory in the 200 IM at 1:48.72.
Gallagher won the men's 100 back at 49.41 seconds and Chow broke through for the Rainbow Wahine in the 200 fly with a season-best time of 2:01.05.
Ostrowski won the 50 free in 20.03 seconds followed by Ksiazek at 20.18.
The Rainbow Warriors closed the night by winning the 400 free relay with the team of Meacham, Ksiazek, Gallagher and Ostrowski posting a time of 2:57.72.
The Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine then honored 16 seniors and graduate students in the traditional post-meet ceremony following their final competition at The Duke.

The UH diving teams will next compete in the Bruin Diving Invite set for Jan. 12-14 in Los Angeles. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Diving Championships are set for Feb. 12-14 in Mission Viejo, Calif. Friday's meet was the final competition for the swimming teams prior to the MPSF Swimming Championships set for Feb. 21-24 in St. George, Utah.
