HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team hosted Day 2 of the Weinman Foundation Invitational tournament on Thursday. Both Ana Vilcek and Nelly Knezkova highlighted the Rainbow Wahine's day upsetting a pair of ranked players in singles at the UH Tennis Complex.

All five teams--BYU, California, Florida State, NC State and Hawai'i--were in action on Thursday. In doubles, UH was able to come away with one win with Anna Kern and Hannah Galindo defeating Cal's Tiziana Schomburg and Lan Mi, 6-3. Hawai'i's Nelly Knezkova and Sheena Masuda fell by just one break to NC State's Sophie Abrams and Abigal Rencheli, 6-4.

In singles, the Rainbow Wahine recorded a pair of wins, but both were over ranked players from the ninth-ranked NC State Wolfpack. UH's Vilcek came through huge with a straight set, 6-2, 6-3 victory over 19th-ranked Sophie Abrams. Rookie Nelly Knezkova followed with a two-set win over NC State's No. 116 Maddy Zampardo, 6-4, 6-3. UH's Nikola Homolkova took her first set against 27th ranked Abigail Rencheli (NCSU) to a tiebreaker but fell in straight sets, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Hawai'i's Anna Kern won her opening set against Cal's Cami Brown, but fell in three sets, 5-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Day 3 of the Weinman Foundation Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m. HT on Friday, January 5 at the UH Tennis Complex.
