FIRST SERVE
  • Hawai'i leads the all-time series 2-1. This week's matches mark the first-ever in Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • UH won the last two meetings in straight sets, both in the OUTRIGGER Volleyball Invitational in Honolulu in 2000 and 2023.
  • In last season's meeting, OH Spyros Chakas tallied 12 kills, hitting .409 while MB Guilherme Voss added six kills and four blocks. As a team, UH hit .436 compared to .211 for the Mastadons.
  • The series began in 1992 when the teams played in the Asics Grand Prix Classic in San Diego, Calif. PFW won that match-up in four sets.
  • UH has a 62-13 (.827) combined record against current members of the MIVA, including a 1-1 mark this season after a series split with Loyola Chicago in Honolulu. UH will also play MIVA members Ball State (Jan. 28) and Lewis (March 7).
  • UH dropped its last two regular season MIVA matches both to Ball State in 2022. In 2020, the Warriors won a pair of MIVA matches at Lewis and Loyola Chicago and in 2017, UH swept MIVA road matches at McKendree and Lindenwood.
  • UH has won its last 12 road matches dating back to 2022. Its last road loss was against Long Beach State (April 1 & 2).
  • UH (3-1) was idle last week while PFW (5-1) defeated Maryville in straight sets.
  • The Mastadons are 3-0 at home this season. Their only loss was on the road at NJIT in five sets after taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • The last time UH lost to an unranked team on the road was at CSUN (twice) during the 2018 season. Hawai'i was ranked No. 3 at the time of both losses.
  • OH Spyros Chakas needs five aces to move into the school's Top 10 in career aces. Currently the senior has 94 aces. Naveh Milo is 10th with 99.
  • Following this week's road trip, UH begins an 11-match homestand spanning six weeks from Feb. 2 (Tusculum) through March 10 (UC Irvine).
