COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former University of Hawai'i middle blocker Patrick Gasman was named to the 14-member U.S. Men's National Team which will compete in the NORCECA Pan American Cup this week in Guadalajara, Mexico.
The tournament runs Aug. 15-20 at the Astros Arena and will feature 10 teams. The U.S. are in Pool A with Puerto Rico and Chile. The playoffs begin Aug. 18 with the championship set for Aug. 20. The U.S. have won the Pan American Cup five times, most recently in 2012. Cuba won the last two tournaments in 2019 and 2022.
Gasman, a four-time All-American for Hawai'i, is the only former Rainbow Warrior on the squad and one of four middle blockers. The Clovis, Calif., native was also a member of the 2022 Pan American Cup team which took the bronze medal.
Gasman helped Hawai'i capture its first national title in 2021. In addition to being selected an AVCA All-American four time, he became the Big West Conference's first, four-time first-team recipient. He was also named to the NCAA Championship all-tournament team and led the nation in hitting percentage (.510) during his senior season. He finished his career ranked No. 3 all-time in blocks (469) and No. 5 all-time in hitting percentage (.437).
