IRVINE, Calif. – A pair of University of Hawai'i men's volleyball players were honored with Big West Player of the Week awards after helping the Rainbow Warriors sweep a two-match Big West series against UC Irvine last week in Honolulu.
Sophomore
Kristian Titriyski was named Offensive Player of the Week and junior
Tread Rosenthal earned Setter of the Week. The award marks Titriyski's fourth of the season—his second straight and third in four weeks—and the sixth of his career. Rosenthal picked up his 10
th setter award this season—his sixth straight—and the 15th of his career. In his career, Rosenthal has won 22 different Big West weekly awards.
UH's season total of 25 Player of the Week awards is more than double the next highest team (UC Irvine, 11).
The Rainbow Warriors (23-3, 6-0 BWC) conclude their four-match road swing at UC San Diego, April 10 and 11 at LionTree Arena.
Kristian Titriyski, Offensive Player of the Week
Led the team with 36 total kills (4.50 avg.) in the series … also averaged 1.38 digs per set and served two aces, while hitting at a .333 clip … team-high 16 kills, hitting .250 with two aces, eight digs, and one block in a come-from-behind, five-set win in the series opener … season-high 20 kills, hitting .448 with three digs and one block in a straight-set win in the rematch … had 15 of his 20 kills while hitting .600 after the first two sets.
Tread Rosenthal, Setter of the Week
Averaged 11.38 assists per set in the series … directed an offense that hit .367 in the series … also averaged 1.25 kills per set, 1.75 digs per set, and 1.25 blocks per set … nearly posted a triple-double in the series opener with 53 assists, 10 digs, and nine kills, along with six blocks in the series opener … his nine kills and 18 attacks were career-highs … had 38 assists, four digs, and four blocks in the rematch … directed the offense to a .453 clip in the straight-set win … tied for the team-lead with 10 blocks in the series.
