Big West Announces Conference Schedule For Women's Basketball

HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team, winners of two straight Big West Tournament titles, got a glimpse of its path toward another potential crown with the release 2023-24 regular-season schedule on Wednesday.

After last year's truncated window saw teams forced to play as many as four games in a week, the Big West returns to a normal slate of Thursday and Saturday dates. The teams will once again play a 20-game home-and-away schedule with two byes.

UH begins conference play on Dec. 30 on the road at Cal State Fullerton before returning for its first Big West homestand against CSU Bakersfield (Jan. 4) and CSUN (Jan. 6). The 'Bows take on defending regular-season champion UC Irvine on the road on January 11. Two weeks later UH will play at UC Santa Barbara in the first meeting between the teams since last season's dramatic conference tournament championship game.

UH's home finale will be March 2 against UC Riverside. The Rainbow Wahine then conclude their regular-season on the road for just the second time in nine years with games at CSUN (March 7) and CSU Bakersfield (March 9). The eight-team conference tournament is set to take place Mar. 13 -16, at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. The top two seeds earn a bye into semifinals.

The Rainbow Wahine return nearly a dozen players from last year's championship squad, headlined by all-conference picks Lily Wahinekapu, Imani Perez and Daejah Phillips. UH also looks forward to the healthy return of Olivia Davies, Jacque David and Jovi Lefotu as well as an influx of four signees.

All Big West regular-season contests are slated for telecast on ESPN+. The non-conference portion of the schedule and promotions will be announced at a later date.
