Munoz Granted NCAA Waiver; Back For 2023-24 Season

University of Hawai'i guard Juan Munoz has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and is eligible to play in the 2023-24 season for the Rainbow Warriors.

Munoz suffered season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons at UH, most recently an achilles injury that sidelined him prior to the 2022-23 season. The waiver renews the lease to his college basketball career, which will now enter its eighth season. The 'Bows now have nine players returning from last year's squad which won 22 games.

"This is a great day for Juan, his family and the entire Rainbow Warrior Basketball program," head coach Eran Ganot said. "It's a testament to his conviction, perseverance and incredible attitude. He's eight months into his rehab and he's been working his tail off. We couldn't be more happy for Juan and this opportunity for him to continue to play the game he loves."

Prior to joining the Rainbow Warriors in 2021, Munoz, a native of North Carolina, spent five years at Longwood University. He sat out his first two seasons due to injury, before playing in 86 career games and blossoming into an all-conference point guard for the Lancers.
