No. 67 Women's Tennis Closes Regular Season On the Road

LOS ANGELES, Calif.--The 67th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (10-6, 7-1 Big West) concludes its regular season schedule with a pair of road matches in California. The Rainbow Wahine, who re-entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings this week after winning their last seven-straight matches, will first take on 26th-ranked USC on Saturday, April 22 at 7:00 a.m. HT before a quick turnaround to end the regular season at UC Irvine on Sunday, April 23 at 9:00 a.m. HT. Currently, Hawai'i sits atop the Big West standings with a 7-1 Big West record just ahead of UC Santa Barbara who sits at 6-1. UH previously entered the ITA team rankings at No. 64 on Feb. 21 but fell out of the poll the following week.

BETWEEN THE LINES
• Earlier this year, UH made their ITA team ranking debut on Feb. 21 at No. 64. On Tuesday the Rainbow Wahine once again coming in at No. 67 after the 'Bows won the last seven-straight matches.
• Two Rainbow Wahine--Satsuki Takamura and Ana Vilcek--lead UH with 11 singles wins each.
• Takamura leads UH with an 11-3 record--including the last 10-straight. Since moving to play at No. 3, Takamura is 10-0. In doubles, she has an overall record of 6-6, but since partnering with Madison Kim at No. 3, they have won four of their five matches together with one match going unfinished. 
• Vilcek enters the week with an 11-4 overall singles record. Between Jan. 19-March 23, Vilcek reeled off nine-consecutive win and rose as high as #107 in the ITA singles rankings. She has played 12 of her 16 matches at No. 1--including the last 11. In doubles, Vilcek is 7-6. Since partnering with Nikola Homolkova, they have gone 4-3, winning three of their last four matches together playing at No. 2.
• Three other Rainbow Wahine are on the brink of recording double-digit singles wins--Rita Pinto, Homolkova and Kim all enter the final week of the season with nine singles wins apiece. Since moving to play at No. 2, Homokova 8-1--including the last six decisions. Pinto started the season at 1-5 in singles, but since that time, she has won eight of her last 10 matches--including six of her last seven playing at the No. 5 spot. Kim begins the final week of the regular season with a 9-8 record and has won three of her last four matches.
