KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Laticia Transom lowered her school record in the 50 yard freestyle and the Hawai'i women's 200 free relay team turned in a strong performance on Thursday at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
 
Transom opened the meet by posting yet another school record time, lowering her 50 freestyle record with a 22.18 in the morning prelims. Despite not finishing in the top 16 needed to advance to a final, her 24th place finish marks the best by a Rainbow Wahine swimmer in the event since 2005 (Dena Quick) and the best finish by a non-Power 5 conference school swimmer.
 
In the final event of the night, the Rainbow Wahine 200 free relay team swam a 1:29.40 to finish in 21st place in UH's first appearance in the event since 2005. Holly Nelson opened with a 22.86 before Transom swam a 21.51 second leg, while Anna Friedrich posted a 22.54 and Gabrielle Scudamore anchored with a 22.49 to help Hawai'i finish seventh in its heat.
 
The Rainbow Wahine continue action at the NCAA Championships Friday morning when Transom swims in the 200 free.
