Andre Ilagan earned his second Big West Player of the Week award for 2023 and continues to add to his UH record eighth weekly conference honor. His eight awards moves him into fourth all-time in receiving Big West Player of the Week record book.
Last week, 56
th-ranked Ilagan won his fifth and sixth-straight No. 1 singles matches as the Rainbow Warriors went 1-1 on the road in San Diego. Against UTRGV (Texas Rio Grande), he swept Emilien Burne, 6-2, 6-3 and two days later, after an extremely close first set, Ilagan pulled away to defeat Nevada's Pedro Liborio, 7-6 (5), 6-1. Overall, Ilagan is 7-3 in singles.
In doubles, for the first time this season, Ilagan paired up with former partner
Lucas Labrunie. UH's No. 1 pairing went 1-1 for the weekend. Against UTRGV's Borna Devald and Burne, the UH duo fell in a tiebreaker, 6-7(3), but bounced back to down UNR's Matheo Corpu and Satchel Benn, 6-4.
