IRVINE, Calif.—University of Hawai'i softball pitcher, Millie Fidge, was named Big West Freshman of the Week after earning her first collegiate win this past week.
Fidge fired a complete, 7.0 game win—her longest outing of the season—to even her record at 1-1. She allowed two runs on six hits with three walks and a career-high seven strikeouts in Hawai'i's win over Marist on Saturday on the second day of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational.
Fidge is the most recent pitcher to come through head coach
Bob Coolen's Australia pipeline—which includes All-Americans Brooke Wilkins, Kelly Gentle, and Kaia Parnaby. Overall, she is the 13
th Aussie to don the Green and White.
Overall, Fidge has a 3.50 ERA in six appearances and 20.0 innings pitched. She has struck out 20 batters while walking just eight.
Fidge is the second-straight Rainbow Wahine to be named Big West Freshman of the Week. Last week Key-Annah Campbell-Pua was tabbed both BW Pitcher and Freshman of the Week.
The Rainbow Wahine continue their month-long homestand this week with the Spring Fling Tournament which runs from Thursday, March 2 – Monday, March 6, 2023. Competing in the six-team tournament are Niagara, Pacific, St. Bonaventure, Santa Clara, Utah and host Hawai'i.
