Men's Basketball Begins December Homestand This Sunday With A Doubleheader

HONOLULU After a 10-day road trip, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team returns home to the friendly confines of the SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center where it will play its next seven games through the month of December. First up is a meeting with Central Arkansas on Sunday, Dec. 3 as a part of a doubleheader with the Rainbow Wahine. The women's team will tipoff at 2 p.m. versus San Jose State, followed by the men's game at 5 p.m.

  PROMOTIONS
  • Sunday will be a Military Appreciation Day Doubleheader, as all military personnel will receive 50% off tickets at the UH ticket window or online at etickethawaii.com.
  • California Hotel and Casino will sponsor the game and host a halftime dance contest. Four participants will be chosen, with the winner claiming a California Hotel four-night room and meal package. 
  • The doubleheader is also a "Keiki Day". All kids of high school age or younger will be allowed into both games for free. 
  • The UH ROTC will provide a special color guard for the rendition of the national anthem by Senior Master Sergeant Brad Valenzuela.
  • With the purchase of the men's ticket it will serve as a doubleheader ticket, allowing access to the women's game before tipoff at 2 p.m. HT.
  • DJ Wizzard will make his season debut for the men's basketball audience, entertaining and performing for fans throughout the night.

GAME STORY LINES
  • After a 10-day road trip, UH returns home where it plays its next seven games through December.
  • UH looks to replicate last year's December run when they won six straight home games and captured the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.
  • The 'Bows start a string of four straight Sunday games with its second-ever meeting versus Central Arkansas. UH won the first meeting in 2010.
  • After a 5-0 start, its best since 2010-11, UH suffered its first loss of the year on Thursday, falling to Utah, 79-66, at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
  • The Rainbow Warriors went 2-1 during its trip to the mainland and captured the Acrisure Invitational in Palm Desert, Calif., during Thanksgiving weekend.
  • UH is off to a 5-1 start for the second time under head coach Eran Ganot (also in 2015-16).
  • Noel Coleman leads the team at 16.0 ppg and is the reigning Big West Player of the Week.
  • Central Arkansas is on a seven-game slide after dropping a 90-63 contest at Loyola Marymount on Wednesday. The Bears are 0-5 on the road so far.
  • Following its game versus Central Arkansas, UH will host Hawaii Pacific on Sunday, Dec. 10.
