DALLAS – The Hawai'i men's and women's swimming and diving teams turned in another solid day of competition on day two at the SMU Invitational Friday, highlighted by more program top 10 performances.
The Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine combined to add six new top 10 times to the charts on Friday, with two coming in the prelims and four in finals.
Kathryn Ivanov got it started by moving further up the program top 10 list in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:00.23 in the prelims to move into third all-time at UH.
Timothy Gallagher also moved up a Hawai'i top 10 list during the prelims, turning in the third-fastest 100 back time in program history by swimming a 47.39.
The Rainbow Wahine put up a 2-3 finish in the 200 free to get things going in the finals session, as
Cass Treydte swam the seventh-fastest time in school history with a 1:47.52 while
Mira Selling came in right behind her with a 1:47.95 to sit in 10
th place all-time at UH.
Freshman
Zofia Tyminska added her name to the Rainbow Wahine 100 breaststroke top 10, swimming a 1:01.56 to move into sixth in school history.
Anna Friedrich then capped off her big day in the 100 back by finishing in 53.54 to move into fifth in UH history after entering the top 10 with a 54.17 in the prelims.
On the diving boards,
Mackaby Pennington took home the men's 1-meter competition with a score of 341.35 while
Juan Gonzalez came in third with a mark of 318.65
The Rainbow Warriors capped off the evening session in the pool with another freestyle relay victory, this time in the 800 free relay.
Jordan Meacham, Gallagher,
Mario Surkovic and
Milan Bukovics combined to swim a 6:29.08 to edge Yale by two seconds and claim the UH men's second freestyle relay victory of the meet.
The Hawai'i swimming and diving programs will conclude action at the SMU Invitational Saturday, beginning with prelims in the pool at 6 a.m. HT.
