Timothy Gallagher qualified for the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in the 200 meter backstroke Wednesday at the SMU Invitational Long Course Time Trials, swimming a 2:01.31.
The native of Poulsbo, Wash. came in .38 seconds under the Olympic standard of 2:01.69, and will have a chance to swim for a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis next summer.
Additionally,
Kathryn Ivanov swam a 1:10.12 in the women's 100 meter breaststroke to come in well below the Canadian Olympic trial standard of 1:13.10. Ivanov had already qualified for the Canadian trials in the event over the summer.
The Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine will kick off the collegiate competition at the SMU Invitational Thursday, beginning with swimming prelims at 6 a.m. HT.
