MALIBU, Calif.—Members of the University of Hawai'i men's tennis team began play in the ITA Southwest Regionals on Thursday at Pepperdine's Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
 
Hawai'i's Quinn Snyder was the lone Rainbow Warrior to advance into the Round of 64after defeating San Diego State's Chikaya Sato in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Unfortunately, UH's Tattevin, who was winning the first set 5-1 when an injury limited his play as SDSU's Liam Spiers came back to take Set 1, 7-5. Tattevin was forced to retire.
 
In Snyder's Round of 64 match, Snyder gave UC Irvines's 17^th-seeded Enrique Luque Rico everything he could in the first set, but fell to the Anteater standout, 7-5, 6-1.
 
Both UH doubles teams of Snyder/Andy Hernandez and Tattevin/Andrew Somervill both dropped their opening round matches. But Hawai'i's Angus Hill and Cole Kurata received a first round bye and will take on GCU's William Alsterback and David Wekesa on Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. Ht.
 
The Rainbow Warriors will compete in consolation or extra matches on Friday. Times are to be announced.
