IRVINE, Calif. – Coming off of her first collegiate victory at the HPU Invitational over the weekend, freshman
Emilie Kirk Langschwager earned Big West Athlete of the Week honors Tuesday.
Kirk Langschwager ran away with the win in the 6k race at Kahuku Golf Course, finishing over a minute ahead of everyone else in the field with a time of 22:10.00. She is the first Hawai'i runner to be named Big West Athlete of the Week since 2021 and the sixth different Rainbow Wahine to receive the honor in the 11 seasons since UH joined The Big West.
The native of Denmark has been the top UH finisher in each of the last three meets and has finished in the top seven in all four meets she has competed in, including a pair of runner-up finishes and a win.
Kirk Langschwager started her collegiate career with a runner-up finish in the Big Wave Invitational before following with a another second-place finish at the Mountain Regional Preview. She then placed seventh at the Charles Bowles Invitational, running the fourth-fastest 5k in program history with a 17:27.00 before her win on Saturday.
