HONOLULU – A pair of Hawai'i swimmers swept MPSF weekly honors Wednesday, as
Mandolin Nguyen earned female athlete of the week recognition and
Mario Surkovic was named male athlete of the week following their performances in Friday's dual meet with TCU.
Nguyen helped lead the way in the Rainbow Wahine's dominant 181.5-80.5 victory over the Horned Frogs, claiming victories in the 200 breaststroke and 200 IM while also breaststroke leg for the 200 IM team that finished in first place. She clocked a time of 2:15.99 in the 200 breast and came home in 2:04.86 in the 200 IM while also finishing second by .01 seconds in the 100 breastroke with a mark of 1:02.98.
Surkovic led the way for the Rainbow Warriors, taking home victories in three events after winning the 100 and 200 free in addition to the 200 IM. He also swam the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay, helping UH to a win with a time of 1:30.30. The freshman pulled away in the 100 free with a mark of 44.55 to win by over a second, while clocking a 1:38.55 in the 200 free and a 1:51.66 in the 200 IM.

Laticia Transom, who earned female athlete of the week recognition twice in the fall.
