Women's Tennis Continues Homestand vs. East Tennessee State

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continues its month-long homestand on Friday, hosting East Tennessee State in its first dual match of the season. First serve is slated for 2:30 P.M. HT. Originally, Hawai'i was going to follow the dual match with the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational from Jan. 13-15, but that tournament has been canceled.

  NEWS & NOTES
  • The Rainbow Wahine open their dual match season with ETSU. Last season, the Buccaneers recorded a 17-9 record while going 6-1 in the Southern Conference. The Bucs fell in the SoCon's championship match to finish second. 
  • Hawai'i is coming off competing in the Weinman Foundation Invitational last week. 
  • Last week the 'Bows were led in singles by Madison Kim and Alexis Merrill who both went 2-1 in the three-day tournament. Kim knocked off California's Cami Brown in straight sets and came back after dropping her first set against Cal's Erin Richardson to win in three. Merrill knocked off USC's Gabrielle Lee in three sets, then defeated Cal's Brown in two
  • In doubles, UH played well with four of UH's pairings all notching two wins apiece. The Hawai'i duo of Kaitlyn Ralar and Ana Vilcek posted a 2-0 record in their matches vs. Cal and USC. Anna Kern/Madison Kim, Nikola Homolkova/Klara Novakova, and Alexis Merrill and Rita Pinto all etched two wins apiece.
