Trueblood Joins Rainbow Warrior Basketball Staff

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's basketball head coach Eran Ganot has announced the hiring of Johnny Trueblood as the Rainbow Warriors' new Director of Player Development.

Trueblood will help with the growth of UH's student-athletes both on and off the court. He will also work in a number of other areas, including alumni relations, marketing, team nutrition, strength and conditioning, scouting and recruiting.

Trueblood comes to UH from South Dakota, where he served as a graduate assistant the past two years. Last season USD notched 19 wins, while in his two years there, the Coyotes boasted a 22-11 conference mark.

"We are thrilled to welcome Johnny to the 'ohaha," Ganot said. "He is highly regarded for his outstanding work ethic and character and also for his clear passion for mentorship, the profession, and this great game. Johnny has always made his presence felt in a positive way, understands the value of team and has an incredibly bright future. We're very excited for the impact he will bring to our student-athletes and community."

Trueblood is a former walk-on turned scholarship player at the University of Nebraska, where he played in 34 career games and was a two-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten Team. He was also a two-time winner of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Award and appointed to the Student Athletic Advisory Committee as a freshman.

A native of Omaha, Trueblood led Elkhorn South High School to the school's first state title and was the Class B Player of the Year. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Nebraska and earned his master's in kinesiology and sports management at South Dakota.
