FIRST SERVE
- Hawai'i (26-5) is appearing in the NCAA championship match for the third consecutive year (no tournament in 2020 due to pandemic) and fourth time in program history.
- UH is the first school to appear in three consecutive NCAA title matches since UCLA made six straight appearances from 1993-98.
- UH will be looking to become the fifth consecutive team to repeat as national champions following Long Beach State (2018-19), Ohio State (2016-17), Loyola Chicago (2014-15), and UC Irvine (2012-13).
- Since the NCAA Tournament expanded in 2014, a No. 3 seed won the title in 2015 and 2016.
- UH and Long Beach State met in the 2019 NCAA championship match in Long Beach with the Beach winning in four sets.
- The teams met three times this season with the Beach winning both regular season matches in Long Beach and UH winning in the Big West Championship title match in Honolulu.
- LBSU leads the all-time series 50-46.
- Head coach Charlie Wade has guided UH to the NCAA Tournament five times in the last seven seasons. Wade's NCAA Tournament record is 6-3.
- UH's 26 wins are the most in the country and fourth-most in program history.
HAWAI'I VERSUS LONG BEACH STATE SERIES
- The Beach leads the all-time series 50-46.
- The teams have won the last three NCAA Championships (LBSU: 2018, '19; UH: 2021).
- The teams have met eight times in postseason play with each team winning four times. The home team won every meeting except in 2005, when the Beach won in four sets in the Stan Sheriff Center.
- Saturday's match-up for the NCAA title marks the first postseason meeting between the teams on a neutral court.
