IRVINE, Calif. – For the third time this season and second time in as many months, University of Hawai'i freshman Momo Sugiyama was named the Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for April.
 
The Gold Coast, Australia native tied for sixth place at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic for her seventh Top 10 finish of the season. The freshman posted a 3-over 210 total for the tournament.
 
Sugiyama was also named Golfer of the Month in September and her three monthly awards are the most by a Big West golfer since Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg won five awards during the 2016-17 season.
 
Through 10 tournaments this season, Sugiyama has six Top 5 finishes and leads the team with a 73.7 scoring average, which is currently the lowest in program history.
 
With Sugiyama's three awards and Hana Mirnik's award for the month of November, UH has won four of the six awards this season.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Big West Conference Championship, April 10-12 in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where UH will be seeking its first-ever conference title.
