Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif.--The 75th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (8-8, 5-2 Big West) concluded their California roadtrip with a 4-0 loss at #21 USC (13-10, 5-3 PAC-12) on Tuesday afternoon at Marks Stadium. Hawai'i, who had entered this past trip riding a seven-match win streak, is now looking to regroup after losing four consecutive away matches to three higher ranked teams: #17 Stanford, #25 UC Santa Barbara and #21 USC, as well as Cal Poly who leads the BWC with a 5-0 record.
The Trojans captured the doubles point quickly, winning on courts 3 and 1. USC's No. 3 pair of Danielle Willson and McKenna Koenig shutout UH's
Nidhi Surapaneni and Gitte Heynemens, 6-0. USC's No. 1 Eryn Cayetano and Salma Ewing followed with a 6-2 win over UH's Léa Romain and
Satsuki Takamura to pick up the doubles point.
In singles, 6th-ranked Cayatano nearly blanked UH's Takamura on the No. 2 court, 6-1, 6-0 to start. The Trojans' Leyden Games then defeated
Madison Kim in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 and 41st-ranked and No. 1 Ewing clinched the match. She held off UH's Romain by a break in the first set, but cruised in the second frame to win, 6-4, 6-1.
The Rainbow Wahine will return home to host their final homestand of the season, beginning this Saturday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. vs. UC Irvine at the UH Tennis Complex.
