IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, University of Hawai'i freshman Momo Sugiyama was named the Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month. The Gold Coast, Australia native earned the award for the month of March after posting a pair of top-3 finishes while leading the Rainbow Wahine to a team title.
 
Sugiyama opened the month tying for third place at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational with a 3-over 219 total, helping the Rainbow Wahine to a second-place team finish. At the Fresno State Classic, she was runner-up after firing a school-record 54-hole total of 5-under 211, finishing one back from medalist Jessica Hall of Fresno State. 


UH its third team title of the season at the Fresno State Classic with a program-best 1-over 865 total. Hawai'i shot a 6-under 282 in the final round of the tournament, which included a new 18-hole school record of 6-under 282 in the final round. 
 
Sugiyama, who was also named Golfer of the Month in September, has posted six Top 5 finishes this season. Teammate Hana Mirnik was named Golfer of the Month for November.
 
After wrapping up the regular season at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, the Rainbow Wahine will next head to the Big West Conference Championship, April 10-12 in San Luis Obispo, Calif., where UH will be seeking its first-ever conference title.
