TEMPE, Ariz.--Both the University of Hawai'i men's and women's tennis teams made their 2022 debuts in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings on Wednesday.
The Rainbow Warriors are riding an eight-match win streak into this week. They entered the rankings at No. 75. It is the first time since February, 28, 2012 that the men have appeared in the poll. It is also the first time under third-year head coach Joël Kusnierz that the men received a ranking. After falling in their first match, the men have rolled for their eight-straight wins--the most in over 20 years. Currently, the men are 1-0 in the Big West.
For the Rainbow Wahine, they entered the ITA poll ranked No. 73. The women's team is currently on a five-match win streak with a 6-3 overall record and a 3-0 record in the Big West. It is the first time since the women were ranked since ending the 2018 season at No. 65 on May 23, 2018.
It is the first time that both teams are ranked in the same week since Feb. 28, 2012. The men came in at No. 74, while the women were ranked at No. 52.
