IRVINE, Calif.--University of Hawai'i men's tennis player
Guillaume Tattevin won all four of his singles matches at UNLV to earn his first career Big West Player of the Week honor. Tattevin, a sophomore transfer from Lander University (Greenwood, S.C.), won his matches at four different positions in the UH lineup.
After falling in a heartbreaker to host UNLV, 4-3, the Rainbow Warriors bounced back to win their next three neutral-site matches culminating with a 4-0 sweep over New Mexico State for a 3-1 dual match record. Tattevin was the lone UH player to win in all four matches and only dropped one set over the entire weekend. In two matches on Friday, Tattevin defeated UNLV's Anton Ornberg 6-1, 6-4 from the No. 6 position, and moved up to No. 3 singles to take down Joshua Roth of UC Riverside 6-0, 6-4. On Saturday, he outlasted Weber State's Elyes Marouani 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 slot, and followed it up with a Sunday win against Gijs Akkermans of New Mexico State 6-2, 6-4 out of the No. 5 position.
Tattevin, a native of Serris, France, is Hawai'is second BWC Player of the Week awardee for 2022. Teammate Simão Telo Alves earned his first career conference weekly award earlier this season on Jan. 19. Tattevin is the 11th different Rainbow Warrior to earn the BWC weekly honor, which brings the program total to 18 in 10 seasons.
