Men's Volleyball In Texas For First Point Challenge

HONOLULU – The top-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will look to bounce back after suffering its first two losses of the season by competing in the First Point Collegiate Challenge, Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. The defending national champion Rainbow Warriors (4-2) are the featured team in the event which also includes No. 14 Stanford, Queens (N.C.), and Fairleigh Dickinson. UH, who is coming off a pair of losses to Ball State, will meet FDU and Queens in a split double-header on Friday and Stanford in the tournament's featured match on Saturday.

FIRST SERVE
  • UH continues its road trip by competing in the First Point Collegiate Challenge along with No. 14 Stanford, Queens (N.C.), and Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • UH will play a split double-header against Queens (11:30am) and Fairleigh Dickinson (7:00pm) on Friday and a single match against Stanford on Saturday (6:00pm).
  • UH was supposed to play Kentucky State in the tournament's opening match however the Thorobreds pulled out of the event and were replaced by Fairleigh Dickinson.
  • UH is coming off a series sweep by Ball State in Muncie, Ind. The Warriors played without three starters in the series, two of whom — S Jakob Thelle and MB Guilherme Voss — will return for this week's tournament. OH Chaz Galloway is listed as day-to-day.
  • Friday's double-header marks the first time UH will play two matches in a single day since playing twice on Day 2 of the Grow the Game Challenge in 2018 (Grand Canyon & Lincoln Memorial).
  • UH and Fairleigh Dickinson will be playing for the first time. UH is 3-0 all-time against Queens and holds a 45-38 advantage against its former Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival Stanford.
  • The last time UH lost two consecutive matches was against Long Beach State in 2019.
