Team Green & White Meet

Women's Swimming & Diving

Fall Wrap Up: Swim & Dive Off To Strong Start

The Hawai'i swimming and diving programs each turned in a strong start to year one under head coach Michael Stephens this fall, highlighted by a pair of school records, numerous top 10s and a dozen NCAA B cut times and Zone E diving standards.

The Rainbow Wahine delivered the highlight of the fall, setting a pair of school freestyle relay records at the SMU Invitational in November. The 200 Free Relay squad of Holly Nelson, Laticia Transom, Anna Friedrich and Gabrielle Scudamore swam a 1:29.63 on day one of the meet before the same four set a school and SMU pool record in the 400 Free Relay by clocking a 3:16.45 on the final day.

Additionally, the Rainbow Wahine turned in a total of 26 program top-10 marks during the fall while collecting seven NCAA B cut times and Zone E diving standards. UH also currently owns MPSF-best times and diving marks in 11 different events while holding 29 top-five marks in the MPSF.

The women's squad has been led by Transom, a fifth-year transfer who currently sits in the top three in school history in five different events (50, 100, 200 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Back), while holding NCAA B cut times in each of those five. She earned MPSF Female Athlete of the Week honors following both meets this fall and is the conference-leader in five different events while sitting in the top 20 nationally in the 100 (16th) and 200 Free (12th).

The Rainbow Warriors also turned in strong showings this fall, posting seven program top 10s while securing five NCAA B cuts and Zone E diving standards. The men also own 21 top-five times or diving marks in the MPSF.

In the pool, Milan Bukovics and Mario Surkovic have each added their names to the UH top 10 in two events each, with Bukovics cracking the top 10 in the 400 IM and 200 Fly, and Surkovic in the 100 and 200 Free. Additionally, divers Juan Gonzalez and Mackaby Pennington posted top-10 marks in platform diving at the SMU Invitational while also securing NCAA Zone E standards.

Hawai'i will be off from competition until the new year, but will be back in action at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on Jan. 6 for a tri-meet with TCU and Air Force.
