Swim & Dive Records More Top 10s on Day Two at SMU

DALLAS – The Hawai'i swimming & diving team turned in more strong performances on day two at the SMU Invitational Friday, recording four new top-10 times while adding a number of other PRs and NCAA Zone E diving standards.

A day after setting the school record in the 200 Free Relay, the Rainbow Wahine narrowly missed setting another program relay record in the 200 Medley Relay. Laticia Transom, Mandolin Nguyen, Anna Friedrich and Gabrielle Scudamore clocked a time of 1:38.56, coming up just 0.38 seconds shy of the program record that was set in 2020.

Both the Rainbow Warriors and Wahine continued to put up more program top 10 marks, combining for four new times in event top 10s.

Transom lowered her season-best in the 200 Free, swimming a 1:44.89 in the prelims to put her in second all-time at UH. In the men's 200 Free prelims, freshman Mario Surkovic turned in a blistering time of 1:35.92, putting him in third all-time at UH as the top qualifier in the meet.

Milan Bukovics put up a personal-best 3:51.69 in the 400 IM finals, giving him the No. 4 time in program history while finishing in fifth place. Mandolin Nguyen provided the final top-10 time of the day for the Rainbow Wahine, swimming the sixth-fastest 100 Breaststroke in program history with a 1:01.90 in the finals.

The Hawai'i divers delivered another strong day, putting two men in the 1M diving finals and two women in the 3M finals. Mackaby Pennington improved his season-best and NCAA Zone E score in the 1-meter competition to 327.60, finishing in third place, while Juan Gonzalez came in fifth with a mark of 300.65. Elma Lund reached the Zone E standard in the 3-meter competition with a 267.30, while Annika Donez joined her in the final with a 235.95.

The 'Bows close out competition at the SMU Invitational Saturday, beginning with prelims in the pool at 6 a.m. HT, followed by diving action at 8 a.m. and swimming finals at 2 p.m.
