SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Members of the University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continued to compete on Day 2 of the ITA Southwest Regional in San Diego, Calif.
 
In the doubles main draw, the fifth-seeded duo of Naomi Cheong and Grace Piper of Southern California defeated Hawai'i's Nikova Homolkova and Klara Novakova, 8-2 in the Round of 32.
 
In singles, UH's Ana Vilcek gave the No. 1-ranked player in the ITA, USC's Eryn Cayatano everything she could handle in a three set battle. Vilcek edged out Cayatano to open the match taking Set 1 in a tiebreaker. But, Cayetano then regrouped to take the next two sets for the win, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the Round of 16.
 
In consolation matches Madison Kim, Klara Novakova and Satsuki Takamura all notched wins. Kim dispatched Loyola Marymount's Luciana Kunkel in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-4. Klara Novakova and UC San Diego's Grace Gamal were tied at a set apiece when UH's Novakova held off Gamal in a hard fought super tiebreaker, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10). Takamura defeated Arizona's Lauren Friend in two sets, 6-2, 6-3. Hawai'i's Homolkova fell in two, but they were extremely close sets as SDSU's Dariya Detkovskaya held off Homolkova, 7-5, 7-6 (3).

The tournament will continue for the Rainbow Wahine as they compete in more consolation matches TBD.
