HONOLULU – The Collegiate Water Polo Association dropped their 2022 preseason rankings and the University of Hawai'i women's water polo team is ranked sixth in the nation to start the season.
The Rainbow Wahine, which finished last season ranked No. 5 nationally, accumulated 83 points from ten voters around the country. UH missed out on a top five ranking by one point.
Hawai'i edged out fellow Big West competitor UC Irvine by one spot. The top 25 included all seven teams from the conference. The 'Bows start their Big West title defense in Michigan after having their season opening weekend canceled.
UH returns 9 starters and 11 letter winners from last season's squad that finished fifth and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
