Rainbow Wahine Fall on the Road at Gonzaga

SPOKANE, WASH.—The University of Hawai'i soccer team dropped its third match of the season in a 5-0 loss at Luger Field on the campus of Gonzaga, Thursday evening.

The Rainbow Wahine (0-2-1) will continue on the road for two more matches spanning to September 8th with stops at Washington State and Idaho over the next six days. The Zags (4-1) have won back-to-back matches, including a 7-0 drumming of Portland State last Sunday.

The first 45' minutes played in the 'Bows style, keeping the Zags in check and allowing one goal on nine shots. The second half proved to be a different tale as the home squad turned up the pressure on the UH defense, scoring four goals over the next 45 minutes of action.

At the end of the contest, Gonzaga outshot UH 25-12, including 12 shots on goal and eight corner kicks. Junior forward Kayla Ryan was a bright spot off the bench, tallying 52 minutes while breaking through with two shots on goal.

UH will now make the short trip from Spokane to Pullman and face off with Pac-12 foe WSU on Sunday. Going into the match, the 'Bows are 0-7 all-time against the Cougars, including a loss at home in 2019.
