TEMPE, Ariz.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-Academic Team for the sixth consecutive year.
In addition, 10 of the 12 team members earned ITA Scholar-Athlete awards –
Nikola Dolakova,
Rebecca Ehn,
Anna Kalabukhova,
Madison Kim,
Jessalyn Lopez,
Petra Melounova,
Alexis Merrill,
Michelle Pits, Lea Romain, and
Satsuki Takamura.
Pits became the first Rainbow Wahine to have earned the Scholar-Athlete award five times while Dolakova and Melounova joined Pits,
Alzbeta Houbova (2016-19) and Martina Kostalova (2012-15) as four-time recipients.
The Rainbow Wahine has earned the ITA All-Academic Team a total of 11 times (2002, '05, '09, '10, '11, '16. '17, '18, '19, '20, and '21). Since 1983, the women's team has had 98 players earn ITA Scholar-Athlete awards.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements: have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
