2021 Water Polo All-Americans

Women's Water Polo

Pair Tabbed ACWPC All-American

After concluding the season with a second-straight Big West title and second-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, two University of Hawai'i water polo players earned postseason honors, as announced by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. Freshman Lucia Gomez de la Puente was named a first team selection and junior Carmen Baringo was honored on the third team.

For Baringo, the third team selection marked the second-straight year the utility player had earned All-American honors after earning honorable mention honors in 2020. Baringo led the team in both steals (27) and field blocks (17) was a nightmare for opposing offenses, frustrating opponents all season with 22 defensive exclusions drawn over the year. Baringo was also named All-Big West first team. Baringo completed her career with 63 goals, 63 assists, 101 steals and 61 field blocks.

Gomez de la Puente was one of just two freshman to make the first team. The attacker led Hawai'i with 21 goals and 20 assists, was named Big West Freshman of the Year and was an All-Big West first-team selection. Gomez de la Puente has racked up 33 goals and 31 assists in her first full season in 2021, plus her COVID-19 season in 2020.

With head coach Maureen Cole leading the Wahine, 22 'Bows have earned ACWPC All-American honors.
