YORBA LINDA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team shot a final round 309 Wednesday to finish with a 914 total and seventh place at the Big West Championships at the Yorba Linda Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine carded rounds of 299, 306, and 309 over the three-day tournament, which was won by Cal Poly (869) by two strokes over UC Davis (871). Round 2 leader UC Irvine was looking to go wire-to-wire but faltered with a final round 298 to drop to fourth place.

Monica Johnson shot a 75 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 17
th place at 222. Junior
Hana Mirnik was one shot back at 223 and tied for 22
nd after a final round 75.

rd, freshman
Ali Schmunk (80) placed 34
th, and senior
Zoey Akagi-Bustin (82) tied for 35
th.
Long Beach State's Holland Shourds took medalist honors at 2-under 214 while Round 2 leader Megan Yang was one shot back and tied for runner-up honors with Cal Poly's Caroline Cantlay, after posting 77.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, the all-conference awards were announced and UH's only honoree was Akagi-Bustin, who earned honorable mention honors.
The championship concludes UH's 2021 pandemic-shortened season. The highlights included three Top 3 finishes and a win at the Pearl Collegiate Classic. Just two weeks ago, Mirnik set a new program-record with a 6-under 66 in the final round of the Cowgirl Classic.
