FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – University of Hawai'i diver Daphne Wils took second place in the 1-meter finals of the NCAA Zone E Championships at the Northern Arizona University campus.

Wils, the two-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation champion and winner of last year's Zone E Championship, now qualifies for the NCAA Championship for the second year in a row. Last year's national meet was canceled due to the pandemic.

The Herman Gorterlaan, Netherland native was in second after the prelims with a score of 310.60 and finished 36.25 points behind winner Delaney Schnell of Arizona. The sophomore will next compete in Tuesday's 3-meter competition, which she also is the defending champion.

On the men's side, junior Max Burman was UH's highest finisher among four divers competing in the 3-meter event. The two-time MPSF 3-meter champion finished in fifth place with a score of 713.65 points which qualifies him for the NCAA Championships for the second straight year.
