RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Darkness halted play before the second round could be completed at the Lamkin Invitational Monday on the opening day of the University of Hawai'i women's golf season.
UH's No. 1 and 2 golfers were still on The Farms Golf Club course along with their playing partners from UC Irvine and Long Beach State. The Rainbow Wahine are currently in 11
th place trailing both their Big West Conference counterparts.
The second round will resume at 7:00 a.m. PT on Tuesday followed by the third and final round.
USC leads the 11-team field with a 585 total, six strokes ahead of UCLA (591). Defending champion and host San Diego State (594) is third following by Colorado (596) and TCU (598). Three golfers are tied for lead at 4-under, including SDSU's Sara Kjellker, who shot a 6-under 66 in Round 2.
For the Rainbow Wahine senior
Tyra Tonkham and newcomer
Hana Mirnik each shot opening round 81. Tonkham was still on the course wrapping up her second round and is currently 15-over for the tournament and 37
th place while Mirnik managed to finish her second round with another 81 and is tied for 42
nd place at 162.
Senior
Zoey Akagi-Bustin carded 82-79 and tied for 39
th at 161. Senior
Sahara Washington opened with an 83 and is 21-over for the tournament with a couple holes left in her second round. Making her UH debut is
Monica Johnson who shot 86-86 on Day 1 and is in 57
th place at 176.
