SAN LUIS OBISPO, CALIF.—It was another eventful day for the University of Hawai'i swim and dive team at the MPSF Championship as scores remain close for both men's and women's teams.
The Rainbow Wahine built on their lead and created some separation between them and BYU, currently sitting at a 305-273 advantage with two days left to go. As for the men, UH trails only by a point and a half to BYU, 302.5-301.
Seniors
Anna Kotonen and
Lucia Lassman paired up with sophomores
Gabrielle Williams and
Jordan Henning to take first place in the men's 200 free relay. The foursome set the pace with a time of 1:31.95, a half-second fast than second-place BYU.
Kotonen and Lassman added to the team point total in the 50 free, finishing second and third in the event. Junior
Katie Strachan added another top-three finish as she placed second overall in the 200 individual medley.
As for the men,
Tim Masten captured the 50 free championship, clocking in at 20.12. Freshman
Sean Hogan keeps gaining momentum as an up and comer, placing third in the 200 individual medley.
Friday will feature five more individual events, with the 400 medley relay to wrap things up before the final day of competition on Saturday.
