LOS ANGELES, CALIF.-- The University of Hawai'i diving team participated in a final tune-up before the MPSF Championships with a two-day USC Diving Invitational event.
A young 'Bows squad turned in a strong showing with top finishes from both the men's and women's teams, including the season debut of sophomore standout
Daphne Wils in both the one-meter and three-meter events. On Friday, she placed at the No. 3 spot of the one-meter with a score of 277.25. She also qualified for the three-meter finals placing at No. 6, followed by freshman
Isabelle Lombardi at No. 7.
The men's side featured freshman
Mason Williams, a newcomer to look out for as he continues to improve. The Montgomery, Texas native took the No. 2 slot in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. Junior
Max Burman proved to have the better day in the one-meter as he surpassed his teammate to win with a final score of 315.05. He also placed at No. 3 behind Williams in the three-meter.
Saturday will continue the invitational as both the men's and women's teams will compete in the platform dive. The competition will begin at 9 a.m. HT.
