IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i junior
Hana Mirnik was named the Big West Conference's Golfer of the Month after leading the Rainbow Wahine at the Nanea Pac 12 Preview.
The native of Celje, Slovenia was UH's top finisher at the annual event with a 12-over 231 total with rounds of 76-79-76. The carded seven birdies and 30 pars at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
"This is a great honor given to such a deserving person on our roster," head coach
Stephen Bidne said. "Hana has been one of our most consistent players on the team all year, and is currently leading the team with the lowest individual stroke average of 73.71 this fall.
"At a tournament which had the toughest competition and golf course we'll see all year, she did a nice job shooting some pretty good scores considering the difficulty. This is a great way to cap off a successful fall campaign as we look forward to building on our success in the championship spring season. Go 'Bows!"
Mirnik completed the fall season with a team-best 73.7 average with three Top 20 finishes in five tournaments played. She is the second Rainbow Wahine to earn Golfer of the Month honors after teammate
Momo Sugiyama captured the award in September.
