Greensboro, N.C.—A select few swimmers from UH swimming embarked on a journey to the east coast of the continental United States to compete in the highly touted Toyota U.S. Open on Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Four UH swimmers will compete, with three in action on the second day of events. Graduate
Anna Kotonen of the Rainbow Wahine turned in a big day as she placed fifth in the A Final of the 50-meter free event. She clocked in at 25.80, with Mallory Comerford winning the meet at 25.24.
On the men's side, senior
John Clark and freshman
Owen Ngan competed. Clark placed third in the C Final of the 400 meter free, touching the wall at 4:03.26. Ngan didn't qualify for the finals of the 200-meter individual medley, placing 26th in the prelims with a time of 2:11.17.
All three will be back in action on Friday as Kotonen will compete in the fly, Clark in the 200 free, and Ngan in the 400 individual medley. Joining them will be senior
Ian Venter, as we'll see his first action with the 100 back.
