HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Softball team swept both games of their doubleheader Saturday to wrap up the Fall Preseason Classic. The Rainbow Wahine won all four of their games while outscoring their opponents, 31-to-2 this weekend.

The bats were still burning from previous games as the 'Bows put together their first double-digit scoring output in a 10-2 mercy rule win.
UH jumped out to a 2-0 lead as senior shortstop
Nawai Kaupe launched a two-run homerun and her third homerun of the weekend.
The 'Bows had an explosive third inning, as sophomore utility player
Maya Nakamura singled to get the things rolling. Kaupe followed with a walk, and
Dallas Millwood took advantage of the runners on base. She drove a ball into the gap that scored Nakamura. Later, with runners in scoring position sophomore catcher Kaena Keliinoi roped a double to drive in two two more runs to give UH a 7-0 lead after three complete innings.
The nail in the coffin came in the fifth inning when senior outfielder
Brittnee Rossi drove in two runs forcing the eight run rule that ended the game.
Sophomore pitcher
Jetta Nannen improved to 2-0 for the tournament allowing zero runs on three hits, with a walk and a strikeout in four innings of work. Sophomore pitcher
Ashley Murphy found some trouble in her one inning in relief. She allowed two walks in the inning and with two outs gave up a two-RBI double snapping their scoreless inning streak at 18 innings.

The offense took their momentum into the tournament finale. UH put together their fourth game with seven or more runs.
After a scoreless first inning, Hawai'i's Millwood homered over the centerfield wall and ignited the offense. After a couple walks and an error, Keliinoi kept things going with an RBI single to leftfield. Rossi then stepped to the plate and drove it to the gap to score both baserunners. The inning was punctuated by a Nakamura RBI single to left field that drove in Rossi.
UH added two insurance runs in the fifth inning off of hits from Nakamura, Kaupe and Millwood.
Freshman pitcher Brianna Lopez got the nod for the and delivered. She gave up one hit with no walks and two strikeouts in her first win as a Rainbow Wahine. Freshman pitcher Chloe Borges came on in relief for the final three innings allowing two hits as well as two walks and a strikeout.
The 'Bows had five hitters with four or more RBI's in the tournament that included, Keliinoi, Gandia-Mak, Millwood, Rossi and Kaupe who led the tournament with seven. Kaupe also led the tournament with three homeruns.
The Fall Preseason Classic concludes the Rainbow Wahine's fall season. The 'Bows will be back in February 2022 for hopefully a full season post-covid.
