Swim and Dive Wrap Up Meet with Wisconsin and Arizona

TUCSON, ARIZ.—The University of Hawai'i swim and dive team concluded its two-day tri-meet with Wisconsin and Arizona Saturday afternoon at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
 
Both men's and women's squads finished behind the Wildcats and Badgers in head-to-head scoring. The highest score came on the women's side, falling short to Arizona 210.5-103.5, with much of the same against Wisconsin 243-71. The Rainbow Warriors battled with Arizona, falling 220-95 and 252-62 to Wisconsin.
 
UH will have some time off before its next event in Dallas, Texas, from Nov. 18-20 with the SMU Invitational.
 
Swimming
 
Senior Anna Kotonen highlighted the day for the Rainbow Wahine as she recorded two individual top-three finishes and one top-three finish in the team relays. Kotonen took the No. 2 spot in the 100 free with a time of 50.77, narrowly missing first place finisher Sophie Fiske of Wisconsin at 50.20. Her second top-three finish was in the 100 breast where she placed third at 1:03.78.
 
In the final swimming event for the Wahine, Kotonen teamed with juniors Gabrielle Williams and Anna Friedrich and freshman Helena Djunic in the 400 free relay. The foursome finished in the third position, touching the wall at 3:26.03.
 
Senior Franz Adam registered the highest finish for the Rainbow Warriors, placing second in the 100 breast at 44.99, completing the meet with two top-three individual finishes. Senior Ian Venter joined Adam with a top-three finish, as he placed third in the 100 backstroke.
 
Both Adam and Venter paired with junior Tim Masten and sophomore Andy Ross for a third-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:02.77.
 
Diving
 
Freshman Nea Immonen led the way for the Rainbow Wahine in th three-meter event with a score of 303.50, placing second overall. Immonen was jockeying for position with Delaney Schnell, a silver medalist from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics through the first four dives, but the difference came in the final two dives as Schnell pulled away on the judges scorecards. Immonen put on a high-level performance, scripting for what could turn into a breakout season for the Finland native. 

Senior Max Burman and sophomore Mason Williams notched back-to-back positions in the men's one-meter championship. Williams scored 301.30 for his highest finish of the meet at No. 4, while Burman placed at No. 5 with a score of 272.10.
