HONOLULU—In late June, the University of Hawai'i swimming and diving team was named a College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American Team, on Wednesday the program was informed of seven individual student-athletes being named to the official Scholar All-America Team and nine honorable mentions.
The women's team picked up four selections with the men's claiming three. The Rainbow Wahine were led by senior
Phoebe Hines, juniors
Lucia Lassman and Karlina Hajkova, along with sophomore
Daphne Wils. While for the Rainbow Warriors it was senior
Olli Kokko, junior 'aukai Lileikis, and sophomore
Max Burman gaining recognition.
Honorable mentions for the women include senior
Jami Stone, junior
Kionna Clayton, and freshman
Anna Friedrich. While on the men's side the list includes seniors
Mateusz Chaba,
Grant Newcombe, and
David Springhetti, junior Adam Franz, sophomore
Talon Lindquist, as well as freshman
Timothy Gallagher.
In total, the CSCAA named 1,479 swimmers and divers to Scholar All-American Team for the 2019-20 season. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. Selections were drawn from 209 colleges and universities.
In addition to 209 teams receiving first-team selections, 97 programs placed one swimmer or diver selected on the All-America Second Team roster. These student-athletes have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier. In total, 282 teams placed at least one individual on the First or Second teams.
